RAMSEUR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

RANDOLPH COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

RAMSEUR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Unique Places and its investment partners recognize potential in the town of Ramseur, with its central statewide location, access along major highways and beautiful waterfront along the Deep River. The waterfront area is currently cut off from the local community and visitors to the area. Our hope is to change that by acquiring strategic lands that encompass the Deep River waterfront as well as the town’s historic dam assets. By working with neighbors and other stakeholders, we plan to coordinate investments in the revitalization of the town’s commercial and recreational corridor along the Deep River. We hope that Ramseur, with some strategic investments, will be able to attract more visitors drawn to enhanced outdoor recreation opportunities and invigorated riverside businesses. Connecting the town to its most valued natural resource not only boosts the local economy, but also builds upon the town’s sense of community pride and stewardship of the river.

RAMSEUR AND THE CAPE FEAR RIVER TRAIL PLAN

Unique Places, in conjunction with the Cape Fear River Partnership, is working to develop the Cape Fear Basin Comprehensive River Trail Plan. This plan is a basin-wide recreation plan that focuses on river paddle trails extending from coastal North Carolina to the central piedmont. In addition to socio-economic revitalization, the Ramseur initiative contributes to the Cape Fear Basin Comprehensive River Trail Plan by creating an additional river access along the Deep River, furthering the State of North Carolina’s Deep River State Trail Plan. In the future, we hope to see paddlers and camping sites that support multiple day Deep River excursions. The Cape Fear Basin Comprehensive River Trail Plan will help connect Ramseur to other neighboring riverside communities, improving the region’s economic sustainability.
